Where does a painting begin? A vision of spectacular beauty or life’s harsh reality. A thought, a shade, a shape or a daydream. Andrea’s mind is constantly painting. The brush marks the canvas, then the journey begins. Painting for Andrea becomes all-consuming in thought and action.
Andrea start with thin layers, playing with colour, finding movement and direction. Keeping a loose grip on the concept of the painting, allowing the painting to evolve. Sometimes, the painting drives the artist. Guiding the painting towards the final concept. Introducing thicker layers of paint, strengthening composition. Resolving the painting, until all areas work together to tell the story.
Andrea is grateful to be an artist in an era of freedom of artistic expression, without constraints of artistic movements. When not painting Andrea’s passion is reading of artists, lives and their work. Traveling and exploring the many places, people and experiences life sends her way.
